Vilderaro
Vilderaros are an all-female, intelligent, semi-aquatic, triradially symmetric race native to the ocean planet Oyojii. They are obsessed with geometry and are one of the designated second-class citizen alien species in the Azlanti Star Empire.1
Appearance
Vilderaros stand upright and walk on three legs. Their mouth points downwards, and five prehensile tentacles sprout from their head. The average vilderaro stands 6 feet tall and weighs 150 pounds.1
History
When the Azlanti Star Empire came to Oyojii, they met little resistance and eventually elevated the vilderaros to the status of second-class citizen after having hired many of them.1
Ecology
All vilderaros are female. Once they mature at the age of 5, they gain the ability to produce fertilising gametes. Vilderaro eggs can either develop asexually within a single individual or be fertilised, either by the same or a different individual. Newborn vilderaros are physically capable, but rely on the mother(s) to pass on genetic knowledge so they could function like adolescents within up to a year. Vilderaros live up to 100 years.1
Society
Vilderaro culture centres around geometry. Although they evolved in the sea, vilderaros built their cities on dry land, navigating and settling their homeworld with the aid of complex star maps, building their cities precisely in the shapes of stars and constellations. Their skills in navigation, architecture and geometry are appreciated by the Azlanti, who put them to work as star cartographers on expeditionary vessels. Many Azlanti nobles consider it a luxury to have a vilderaro as a personal chauffeur.12
The bodies, buildings and settlements of vilderaros all bear totemic representations of various mystical themes like ancestors and nature deities. However, the Star Empire restricts their rights to worship their own gods and carry their cultural artefacts offworld, and many vilderaros resent this forced assimilation policy.1
Vilderaros, though new to technology, have quickly adapted to it, especially to computers and navigational tools. Their extraordinary memory makes them excel as navigators, pilots and architects.1
Vilderaros prefer sexual reproduction, as it will allow their young to receive education from two rather than just one mother. They use the feminine gender to refer to themselves in languages with grammatical gender.1
