Ancestry

The word ancestry in a general sense can refer to any kind of creature, but it and the term species are commonly used to refer to a sapient, self-aware people classified into a group based on their common homeworld, physical traits, genetics, or social relations. More dated materials sometimes use the term race as an equivalent.
