Broken Minds

Broken Minds is a small community located in the harsh desert coast of the northern Colonies on the planet Castrovel. It was founded relatively recently by shirrens who have been buying "malfunctioning" formians (i.e. formians who for whatever reason could not or would not fit into normal formian society) from the other hives of the Colonies. These rebellious formians are brought to Broken Minds where they are studied by the shirrens and taught to live as individuals in non-formian societies. The shirrens also hope that by studying what caused these individuals to rebel might tell them something about their own people's break and emancipation from the Swarm.

Voice of the Overqueen

The Voice of the Overqueen is a small temple in Broken Minds run by the formian Vion who believes that the formian concept of the Overqueen is not theoretical, but actually describes the goddess Hylax. Vion understands that her controversial beliefs will never spread to the general formian society, and instead focuses on reaching out to new arrivals to Broken Minds. She also works with the shirrens to prepare newcomers for life outside the Colonies.
