Vion is an emancipated formian who runs Voice of the Overqueen, a temple of Hylax in the settlement of Broken Minds on the planet Castrovel. She believes the formian concept of the Overqueen is not theoretical but actually describes Hylax. Vion realizes that her radical views will never spread to the strictly controlled general society of of the formians in the Colonies, instead focusing on preaching to the newcomers to Broken Minds, while assisting the shirrens in their work preparing the rejected formians to life outside of the hives.
