Entha is an aquatic planet in the Vast, and the site of a terraforming project conducted by the Evgeniya-Jaimisson Corporation.1

Geography

Only a few rocky outcroppings jut up from undersea mountain ranges over the sea level. Underwater, thick forests of twisting seaweed stretch hundreds of yards up from the sea bed. Unfathomably deep trenches conceal inimaginable secrets and horrors, and the entire world ocean is imbued with a supernatural aura by proto-magical plankton.2

A magical network, spanning the entire planet, twists in Entha's mantle. As threads of magic rise up and touch the also-magical seawater, they harden into shining, psychedelic coral-like reefs, which cannot exist on most other worlds due to the depth pressure. Xenobiologists estimate that this process can take millennia, but this is hard to verify due to the Gap. These reefs reduce water pressure to near-surface levels, allowing creatures to thrive in the otherwise crushing depths.2

History

Entha's pre-Gap history is unknown. In 309 AG, an EJ Corp starship happened upon Entha when its Drift engine failed to lead it to its intended destination. The crew scanned the planet, but the report received little attention until 316 AG. Avarin Sacrion, an ambitious green dragon and rising star in the Company, saw Entha's potential for profit, and proposed a major terraforming project that could turn the planet into an ecotourist destination. EJ Corp quickly approved and funded the project, due to the lack of government oversight and Avarin's penchant for oppressing her workers.1

Inhabitants

Entha is home to numerous species both mundane and magical, including abynthics, giant jellies, hill-sized flounders and dart-like cartilaginous fish that teleport short distances, with the only intelligent species being the aglians.2

EJ Corp does not keep the terraforming project secret but tightly controls the flow of information and visitors to and from Entha. Most workers come from poverty-ridden places and are forced to take even the most remote, low-paid and dangerous jobs. The project involves detaching Entha's magical reefs from the seabed, causing them to float to the surface and allowing resort property to be built on them, but severing their ties to Entha's magical mantle, killing the numerous creatures that make their home nearby. As the aglians heavily depend on these reefs, the Company's terraforming project has put them in dire danger.2
