Arniselle is the cold, oceanic third planet orbiting the star designated CX8742, home to the morlamaws.

Geography

Arniselle's average temperature is below 0°C. Most of the planet is covered in oceans, except for a few uninhabited, icy landmasses on one side; many others have been submerged by seismic activity and an increase in sea level.

History

Prior to the Gap, Arniselle was home to a cult of Ghatanothoa, who were all petrified by laying eyes upon their master. A few centuries later, mi-go explorers came upon the bodies and used advanced equipment to remove the cultists' brains, and left the bodies and some of their equipment behind.

The Starfinder Society established a lodge on Arniselle long ago, but abandoned it around 218 AG, when the then-new First Seeker chose to consolidate its resources in Near Space. In the ensuing years, seismic activity caused the lodge to slide into th ocean, but it remained intact due to its robust architecture.

In 318 AG, when the Society was in need of Arniselle's clophirium deposits, Fitch, leader of the Wayfinders, arranged for an expedition to the Arniselle lodge. In doing so, they re-opened the lodge and established first contact with the morlamaws.

Inhabitants

Arniselle's only intelligent species is the morlamaws, who live in cities located in the deepest ocean trenches and have opened their home to visitors since first contact with the Starfinders. One such visitor is AbadarCorp, who sees the potential in Arniselle's natural resources and the hardworking, slightly naïve morlamaws.

Outside of the trench cities, Arniselle's open oceans are dangerous and full of predators, predominantly sea serpents as well as fish and crabs that frequently employ camouflage. Travellers stick to pre-established roads between the cities, and straying from them is risky.
