Appearance

Stellar Protozoans are single-celled organisms the size of a space station. They have thin, erratically waving flagella, that function as their sensory organ, as well as a focus for their energy shields and particle beams.

Ecology

When a stellar protozoa contacts anything edible—which is anything smaller than it is—it surrounds the object and begins breaking it down with corrosive cytoplasm. High‑energy material, such as starship power cores, provides it with the most substantive nutrition. When it has absorbed sufficient energy, its nucleus grows and splits in two, dividing the protozoa into two smaller creatures. Stellar protozoans instinctively avoid gravity wells such as stars or planets.
