Antecursors are Swarm components that infiltrate target planets and gather intelligence in preparation for an invasion. They tend to avoid combat and prefer to use their neurotoxin to incapacitate enemies so they can escape. They are more intelligent than most Swarm components, and can operate in any unfamiliar environment due to the hive mind's shared memories. Antecursors are lithe, with two pairs of large wings, oversized compound eyes and a scorpion tail that can launch venomous stingers and keep the antecursor stable in flight. They are usually dull green and brown with matte-grey wings, although those that operate in cities are usually grey, with iridescent marks resembling lights.
