Vorphomas are Swarm components that covertly operate alone or in small groups behind the enemy lines to terrorise and soften them up before the main assault. They resemble mottled humanoid stick insects with six wings and lanky arms, can launch spines coated with a numbing enzyme from their arms, and can mentally sow fear and confusion among enemies. Vorphomas are innately stealthy and often terrify enemies from the shadows, then fling barbs at them when spotted, and only enter melee when out of ammunition. The average vorphoma measures around 5-1/2 feet tall.
