Revulsors are Swarm vanguard components that drive back foes by unleashing sonic shrieks with their powerful vocal cords and compressed air sacs. Their upper arms end in wicked claws, their lower arms carry objects and assist in climbing, and their legs are abnormally long, allowing them to move rapidly. Revulsors heal quickly, fight savagely and never retreat unless commanded by the hive mind, which is very rare. They are usually brightly-coloured, serving as a distraction while stealthier components move into position, and their carapaces are pigmented ultraviolet, which is believed to have served to intimidate an old enemy who could see UV light. The ultraviolet pigmentation becomes brighter as the revulsor survives more battles, and smaller components instinctively defer and give honoured places on the battle to such revulsors.
