More information about this subject might be available on PathfinderWiki. |
Asmodeus rules over Hell as the deity of hierarchy and tyrannical rulership.1 He is venerated by the Hellknights, who reflect and enforce the strict order of Hell through force.2
History
Legend has it that Asmodeus and his brother Ihys were the creators of the first mortals. When Ihys destroyed Asmodeus' dream of an orderly realm by introducing free will, he killed his brother and withdrew to Hell, where he has rallied against chaos for ages. When the Gap corrupted contracts created during this period and erased earlier ones, Asmodeus lost his grip on many mortal worlds, and was forced to redouble his efforts, but nevertheless discourages his faithful from uncovering its true nature, for fear of another similar calamity.3
Home
From his seat in the ninth layer of Hell, Asmodeus rules over a strict hierarchy of devils, all dedicated to reclaim the whole Great Beyond for their master.3
Church of Asmodeus
Worshipers and clergy
Asmodeus is worshipped by the ambitious elite, who usually exchange some spiritual autonomy for greater mortal authority. Asmodean temples tend to offer notary and legal services to most visitors. If Asmodeus' rule is not absolute, they tend to hide their affiliation to avoid provoking vigilantes; elsewhere, like on Embroi, Asmodeus' symbol is ubiquitous.3
