Conceived as a preliminary sketch for the Material Plane, the First World was forsaken by the gods ages ago, akin to a palimpsest—the initial outline preceding the completed artwork of the Material Plane. Isolated from other planes and brimming with vibrant energy from its proximity to the Positive Energy Plane, the First World constitutes an ever-evolving terrain where extraordinary beings known as Eldest manipulate reality and govern the indigenous fey.1

Portals to the Material Plane

Although there are numerous places where the borders between the First World and the Material Plane are thin (such as the planets Grascha in Near Space and Veyvilla-6 and Limina in the Vast), the only known permanent portal between the planes is known as the Greengate and is located in the city of Nerundel on the planet Castrovel in the Pact Worlds system. The gnomish and elven inhabitants of Nerundel use the portal to actively trade with the fey, while some fey travel to the city to attend its university.234
