Ellicoth
Ellicoths are horned elephantine creatures from the planet Eox who consume soul energy and produce mournful music.1
Appearance
An ellicoth looks like a 50-foot-tall elephant with two trunks and six spindly, narrow legs that seem incongruous to its 30-ton heft. Its body is covered in spikes, blisters, and growths related to its exposure to radiation on Eox.1
History
Ancient pre-Gap data suggests that ellicoths were once peaceful fruit-eating creatures who roamed Eox before the ancient war that transformed the planet into an undead hellscape. The transformation turned them into creatures for whom eating or breathing were no longer necessary or possible, leaving them mournful of their past lives and with only the ability to absorb life energies — living or necromantic — for sustenance.1
Abilities
Ellicoths emit enough radiation to debilitate or damage susceptible creatures and objects within 15 feet of it. Their trunks can feed from the power of a creature's soul, providing a restorative sustenance. They are highly perceptive of life energies and can sense life without sight, and can also see clearly in very little light. While capable of understanding Eoxian, they cannot speak.1
Ecology
Herds of up to six ellicoths roam Eox's wastelands and feed off ghosts, ghouls, and other undead. They infrequently raid Eoxian settlements to feast on their inhabitants, and due to their size and strength, local military forces are often required to stop them.1
