Reclaimers are scorpion-like protocites that recycle Noma's completed experiments by devouring them, reducing them to polyfluid with their complex system of enzymatic machinery, and depositing the polyfluid in receptacles so it can be reused. Because of this, they serve as the backbone of Noma's activities. Reclaimers also serve as an immune system, attacking protocites that operate outside of allowed parameters, and have learnt to recognise intruders in the wake of recent invasions.

Reclaimers travel from sector to sector via the shallow channels between them, instead of taking roads so they would not interrupt ongoing activities. Visitors that carry damaged or broken gear might become targets of reclaimers that seek to reclaim them without caring if they are also simultaneously taking parts of the owner.
