Spectra
Spectra are a young race of outsiders native to the Drift concerned primarily with the protection of their home and of technology in general.1
Ecology
Spectra form from the amalgamation of pieces of raw energy absorbed from other planes, in the same way how the Drift itself grows by absorbing pieces from other planes when a starship travels through it. Spectra are innately resistant to magic and can slip in and out of the Drift through some esoteric technological process. According to some hypotheses, spectra simultaneously exist in multiple planes but can only manifest in one at a time, like Drift beacons. Spectra rarely speak through their own synthesised tones, preferring to use their telepathy to harness nearby communication technology.1 Spectra are speculated to be Triune's creations, since both share the goal of promoting the Drift and technological development.2
In 422 AG, the Drift Crash causes many spectra to start acting erratically, attacking mortals for inexplicable and incomprehensible crimes against the Drift.3 Even if the Drift can be repaired, these spectra might not be able to heal.4
Society
While spectra are generally peaceful, they take their duties seriously and are not afraid of perceived threats. Sceptics suspect that they are Triune's attempts to create new life or enforce its hidden agendas.2
