Plistarns are a species of humanoid-shaped plasma creatures who live inside the star Vose 303 in the Vast.1

Appearance

Plistarns are humanoid-shaped plasma creatures that emit significant light and radiation themselves. When interacting with other species, they usually wear environmental suits to protect their guests. As they radiate a large swath of the electromagnetic spectrum, creatures capable of seeing x-ray wavelengths have an easy time telling apart individual plistarns.1

Ecology

Plistarns are likely descended from natives of the Plane of Fire, and are immune to both heat and radiation, allowing them to comfortably live in the star.1

Habitat

Plistars build their cities atop solid masses deep inside Vose 303, along one side of the star. They maintain four large cities and around a dozen smaller ones. Only the largest city, Voskorme, can house visitors without immunity to fire and radiation; in other cities, they must wear environmental gear.1

Society

Plistarns have their own Drift-capable starships and seek to improve their standing in intergalactic politics. Just outside Vose 303's corona, they have built a large spacedock to accommodate foreign starships, who come in search of rare elements that the plistarns mine from their star.1

Plistarns have a rich art culture, particularly around dance: according to many visitors in Voskorme, their dance is one of the greatest sights in the galaxy. They have no claim on Jedarat, the planet orbiting Vose 303, and support the ongoing colonisation efforts by AbadarCorp, hoping that their new neighbours will come with more opportunities for trade and diplomacy. Many plistarn suppliers and contractors are in discussion with AbadarCorp for machinery and materials needed to terraform Jedarat and build a resort that will offer regular tours to Voskorme.1
