The Marixah Republic is a small liberal democratic republic in Near Space.1

Holdings

The Marixah Republic's territory consists of Marixah (the capital) and Kizmatta, the two habitable planets in the Marixah system, and eight other worlds, including Flentil, an ocean planet, and Ptekik-3, a high-gravity world with a methane atmosphere.1

Government

The Marixah Republic is a parliamentary multi-party democracy, whose citizens elect 257 representatives every 6 years. These representatives' parties form coalitions to pass initiatives. No head of state exists; chief representatives are elected to deal with emergencies or other nations. Due to its successes, the Marixah Republic fancies itself an equal to the Pact Worlds and Veskarium, despite possessing only a small fraction of these two's might. After supplying a small fleet to fight the Swarm in 291 AG, the Republic's leaders intend to provide greater assistance in future conflicts.1

History

The Marixah Republic was born when the residents of Marixah and Kizmatta formed a union shortly after the Gap.1

People

The Marixah Republic's population consists mostly of humans, half-orcs, half-elves and hobgoblins who migrated from the Golarion system to Marixah during the Gap.1

Relations

The Marixah Republic remains on good terms with the Pact Worlds, though the Pact Council is tired of Marixah posturing. The Veskarium laughs at the notion that the Marixah Republic could be their peers.1 Its current nemesis is the Gideron Authority, its closest neighbour and rival whose free-thinking, multicultural society is a clear threat to the Authority. Gideron propaganda often emphasises the Republic's irresponsible freedom, destabilising influence and doctrine of pirating Gideron starships.2

The conflict between the Gideron Authority and the Marixah Republic has recently escalated, with the Authority blockading some sections of Republic territory; since hobgoblins once lived in those regions, the Authority believes in the right to claim them for itself. While the conflict has so far been restricted to space battles, the fears of ground invasions escalate with each passing month, culminating in the Authority's annexation of the Acalata system in 318 AG.3 The Republic has yet to establish a formal response: most want to avoid war and urge further negotiation, while hawks insist on putting the anti-Swarm fleet to use. Meanwhile, in 319 AG, the Authority detonated its own embassy in the Republic's capital.1
