Lucandrian
Lucandrians are humanoid-shaped fey made of solid light who dwell on and derive their powers from moons.1
Appearance
Lucandrians are 6 feet tall and weigh around 165 pounds on average. Most have pale, pastel-tinted skin; a few are stone-grey or bone white.1
Ecology
Lucandrian parents combine bits of soul with moon dust through a complex magical process, then places the mixture in an ovoid crystalline vessel. If the ritual is successful, a new lucandrian coalesces in 27 days and emerges as a small, fully-formed lucandrian 27 days later. As lucandrians grow, they develop various kinds of lunar magic: albedos have powers related to reflected light, while perigeans gain the ability to manipulate gravity.1
Habitat
Lucandrians are drawn to planets with many moons like Liavara and Bretheda, but are also natural explorers due to their curiosity.1
Society
Young lucandrians explore the galaxy for trinkets, amusements and lunar influences to develop their powers. As they mature, lucandrians become introspective, spending time contemplating or creating unique objects. They enjoy charting the sky, nurturing gardens of moon crystals and decorating dwellings. Lucandrians are overall peaceful but can clash with those who seek to profit from their lunar homes, or give themselves inscrutable personal aims, in the process coming into conflict with others, who can make peace by offering help, respect or a gift. They also fight to protect their secrets.1
Due to the difficulty of creating offspring, lucandrians are protective of juveniles of all species.1 If a lucandrian crèche is destroyed by invaders, the community gathers the lost children and performs a dire ritual, combining the dead's spirits and some survivors into a magical construct dedicated to vengeance known as a many-miened one.2
