Many-miened ones are destructive magical constructs created by the lucandrians for the sole purpose of exacting revenge on those who killed their young.1

Appearance

Many-miened ones are composed of an extraordinarily tough substance made from moon dust and moon crystals cemented together by quintessence. Their neckless heads have five facets, each bearing a different face corresponding to a lunar phase: new, crescent, half, gibbous, or full. The head periodically rotates, utilising each face's unique own magical powers against threats and obstacles.1

Ecology

When an external force destroys a lucandrian crèche, killing the young they spent so much effort giving birth to, the community gathers the broken children and performs a ritual combining some survivors and the spirits of the dead into a many-miened one. All of these constituents maintain part of their identity and wilfulness, deferring to the one whose face is dominant. A many-miened one's vengeance can only be satisfied by the ruination of what originally killed them, though the exact way to achieve this quest might change over time.1

After fulfilling their mission, some many-miened ones continue pursuing vengeance, either lashing out against others or working for strangers who seek their own vengeance. Others become counsellors to lucandrian communities while trying to achieve calm and union between their personalities. A few even try to disassemble themselves to become individual lucandrians again, a futile and almost-always fatal process that only occasionally creates a single survivor, traumatised by the loss of their comrades.1
