Chromatic dragon
More information about this subject might be available on PathfinderWiki. |
Chromatic dragons are a sept of relatively common, usually evil true dragons. Like all other true dragons, they grow stronger with age and are sometimes capable of taking a humanoid form.1
In the Pact Worlds system
In the Pact Worlds, most chromatic dragons live in the Drakelands of Triaxus, where they rule as cruel despots over second-class humanoid citizens and are always plotting to amass as much wealth and power as possible. Long before the Gap, the ryphorians of the Allied Territories and their metallic dragon allies battled against the chromatic dragons, with dragonkin fighting on both sides. The tactically crucial isthmus between the two warring continents was the Skyfire Mandate, defended by a legion of ryphorians bonded with intelligent dragonkin mounts. As spaceflight was developed and the territorial wars became moot, particularly after the Gap and upon the signing of the Absalom Pact, active ryphorian-dragon hostilities ceased.12
Species
Chromatic dragons are divided into five species: the callous, fear-mongering black dragon, with a line of acid as a breath weapon, who lives in swamps; the scheming blue dragon, who breathes a line of electricity; the affably evil, forest-dwelling green dragon, who breathes a cone of acid; the imperious, short-tempered red dragon, who breathes a cone of fire; and the white dragon, who lives in cold habitats.1
