Void hags are a race of malevolent spellcasting space-dwelling crones.1

Appearance

A typical void hag stands over 7 feet tall but weighs no more than 150 pounds. They have disturbingly sharp, silvery nails and long limbs, hands, feet and hair. Void hags usually wear their hair loose to frame their face.1

Ecology

It's unknown whether void hags hail from a distant planet or adapted to living in space. A void hag's most important possession is her robe, which must be crafted after a series of trials that might take years or decades: weaving it from plant fibres found on naturally radioactive worlds, bathing it in a coronal mass ejection, dragging it into the centre of a nebula to collect cosmic dust and ionised gas, and finally donning the robe while meditating to imprint a pattern of stars on the robe. The design of the robe is personally important to each void hag, and no two look identical. A void hag is bonded to her robes and only the strongest magic can separate them.1

Three hags of any type can band together to form a coven, gaining access to more powerful magical abilities. Void hag covens often claim an entire small planetoid and craft a square-shaped stellar cauldron, which serves as a focus for their rituals and to brew serums and spell ampoules. It is capable of withstanding the various arcane fission and fusion processes studied by the void hags, who are as protective of their cauldrons as an individual is of her robes.1

Society

Void hags consider everyone else other than other void hags lesser beings for them to rule over. Void hags despise stupidity and find great satisfaction in punishing it, usually in painful and fatal ways.1

Void hags without a robe are never seen as equal by other void hags, and some actively ignore them. A void hag who somehow loses her robe is immediately expelled from her coven and can never return even after having crafted a new set, as her former coven mates will not fully trust her. If void hags enter into conflict, one usually quickly overpowers the other.1

A few void hags work on Apostae in the security division of drow houses, rooting out spies and leading strike teams against other drow corporations. However, they could never climb high on the corporate ladder.1

Void hags avoid Aucturn with almost no exception. They claim that they do this because of certain pacts with powerful entities, while some sages theorise that they're simply afraid of Aucturn and its inhabitants. They similarly dislike the Dominion of the Black and might cooperate with them but never for long, since they suspect that their own brains would be eagerly collected by the Dominion.1
