Trolls are a species of voracious giantkin infamous for their ability to heal themselves from almost all kinds of wounds.1

Appearance

Trolls have a heavy head, long jaws, thick hunched shoulders, and curved claws and teeth to tear out flesh from bone and skin. They can reach 14 feet tall and 1-1/2 tons, but usually look shorter and stockier than they are.1

Ecology

Trolls possess remarkable regenerative powers that allow them to quickly recover from significant wounds that are not inflicted by fire or acid. This ability demands a large amount of nutrition, and trolls are relentless and fearless when searching for food. They eat what they take down and do not wait for the prey to die before starting. They have an acute sense of smell to sniff out hidden prey.1

Habitat

Trolls prefer the cold, clean air of high mountains, but can adapt to almost every environment and become apex predators.1

Society

Trolls are protective of each other their young, and females raise juveniles in groups, taking turns hunting, teaching and protecting them. Male trolls are solitary, claim a territory and only meet others to mate or fight, but have been seen observed raising young when females are absent. Trolls are naturally overconfident and have little self-preservation when hunting or defending their territory.1

Some corporations go to great lengths to acquire live trolls and research on them in search of profit. Some seek to employ their secrets of regeneration in medicine, while others seek to engineer mutant strains, like the void troll, from unscrupulous experiments.1
