Symbiend
Symbiends are a narrow category of symbionts that can form bonds with nearly any other creature.1
Ecology
Symbiends come in many types and are spread across the galaxy, but are suspected to share a common origin due to biological similarities. They feed off, influence, and communicate empathically with their hosts, a rare few also being capable of speaking and overwhelming them. An individual symbiend never bonds twice to the same host, preferring more invested ones.1
Types
Damoritosh's arm
The Damoritosh's arm is a many-legged arthropod that burrows into the host's flesh and sip on their hormones, especially adrenaline, the resulting adrenaline rush turning the host vicious and fearless. Such hosts can easily be identified by bulging eyes, bloodshot eyes and frothing mouths.1
Dream peddler
The dream peddler is a fleshy creature that lives on the host's back and reaches the brain with its fine filaments, triggering the brain's pleasure centres. Hosts become mildly euphoric, unmotivated and risk averse, while also gaining psychic abilities.1
Paragon
Paragons burrow into the host's chest, boosting intelligence and pheromone production while wearing down the host's body. They can communicate directly to the host, withdraw its bonuses, and cause pain or hallucinations to control them.1
