Stroxha
Stroxhas are the half-feline, half-reptilian apex predators of the deep forests of Marata.1
Appearance
Stroxhas are strong, agile, robust quadrupeds, and possess long claws and strong jaws. Their eyes are advanced sensors and can see from microwaves to X-rays. On average, they measure 10 feet long and weigh 500 pounds.1
Ecology
Due to their fey ancestry, stroxhas exist slightly out of phase with the Material Plane, allowing them to spot prey and charge at it through solid objects before the prey can even recognise the danger. They need large hunting grounds and rarely meet other than to reproduce. Stroxhas usually only bear one or two cubs, and the parents take turns raising them to avoid overhunting each one's territory.1
Society
Stroxha culture is hierarchical: displays of force and dominance determine who controls choice territory. Their language consists of hisses, growls and body cues, and they can also understand other languages.1
The maraquoi, who were once prey to the stroxhas, revere them as symbols of fierce cunning and have begun to defend them from poachers as offworld interests press for access to Marata's environmental resources. The stroxhas have recognised their former prey's protection, and an alliance now exists between the two species to defend their mutual home.1
