Haeshi-shaas are one of the races that compose the priestly caste of the Dominion of the Black alongside the chyzaedus Click this link to see if this article exists on PathfinderWiki.. They shift between two forms over their lives: a liquid form, called haeshi, and a gaseous form, called shaa.1

Appearance

The haeshi-shaa's haeshi form appears as a churning chunky fluid, while the shaa form is a hazy brown fog. Both forms hum with atonal, unnerving sounds.1

Ecology

Each haeshi-shaa switches forms thousands of times during its lifespan, and this process cannot be controlled. Some haeshi-shaas wait for their form to naturally change, while others actively seek out potentially catalytic events. The attitude of a haeshi-shaa depends on its form: haeshi are more aggressive, shaa are more introspective. A haeshi-shaa lives for up to 25 millennia.1

History

Haeshi-shaas and chyzaedus, a fellow member of the its priestly caste, are relatively new members of the Dominion of the Black. It is believed that the strange exhalation, which was heard by the chyzaedus when a black hole devoured their planet, was a result of the future haeshi-shaas, who were known in ancient history as beings of pure sound whose strange messages sounded of consumption and destruction; and this was the reason why these two species became priests in the Dominion.1

Society

Haeshi-shaas believe that all of the universe's complexities should be reduced to elementary particles, the only state where a being can truly become one with the universe. They preach a dogma of obliteration and the reverence of black holes, with each form taking a slightly different approach depending on its attitude. They claim to be able to see the universe's pathways toward entropy, though this claim is dubious. While the Dominion is secular, haeshi-shaas and chyzaedus serve a useful role by preaching its philosophy, with each species claiming a different role.1
