Brood sovereigns are rare, intelligent, xenophobic gastropods native to coral reefs in cold oceans, like the Broodnest at the core of Nisis.

Appearance

Brood sovereigns resemble titanic slugs with rasping footpads and conifer-like sensory appendages, accustomed to navigating the deep ocean. A brood sovereign's xenophobic rage is so great that it can radiate from its body both physically and psychically.

Ecology

Brood sovereigns consume silicon-laced corallites, which is processed into defensive dermal nodules and pseudo-circuitry within their brains. Over millennia, brood sovereigns develop a true, evil intelligence.

Society

The brood sovereigns in Nisis consider themselves to be its true rulers, and psychically control other sea creatures (like diaspora wyrms to drive off those they view as interlopers.
