Umbracygots, historically known as somalcygots (after Golarion's moon, Somal), are large, predatory, territorial flatworms that make their home in airless environments.1

Appearance

An umbracygot is a flatworm with multiple eyes and a vertical mouth filled with teeth and surrounded by mandibles. Four long, twitching antennae stretch from its face, and four tentacles emerge from its body. The average umbracygot is 16 feet long and weighs 1,500 pounds.1

Ecology

When not feeding, umbracygots spend most of their time burrowing in circles in a trance-like state. Some xenobiologists speculate that these patterns indicate the umbracygot's mood or even their psychic impressions on the cosmos, though little data has been collected. When it senses an interloper, an umbracygot enters a vicious frenzy in an attempt to feed, but rarely pursue prey outside of their territory, in order to conserve energy in a desolate environment.1

On the rare occasions when they are full and feel no need to spend energy on a wasteful meal, or when they are mating, umbracygots are willing to socialise and aid scientists in understanding their physiology.1
