The Syndicsguild is a council of representatives (called syndics) who advise the Prime Executive (or Primex), who in theory has absolute authority over the running of Absalom Station in the Pact Worlds system. Each of the syndics is elected from the one of the dozens of electoral districs that the station has been divided into. These electoral districs have varied greatly over the years in ways that favor one of the many factions of Absalom Station over another. The Syndicsguild elects the Prime Executive, a term-limited position, and while they must follow the executive's decision, they also have the ability to remove the Primex and call for new elections at any time. The current Primex is Kumara Melacruz, a human woman who has generated some controversy by cracking down on white-collar crime, and liberalizing non-human immigration to the station.
