Pharasma's Coil is a pale blue spiral galaxy located on the Ethereal Plane that has been colliding with Desna's Path (the galaxy on the Material Plane that contains the Pact Worlds system) for millions of years. It was named by arcane stargazers who thought it resembled the spiral of the goddess Pharasma's holy symbol. Unlike when two galaxies collide with one another on the same plane, Desna's Path and Pharasma's Coil seem to pass through each other imperceptibly like ghosts. Yet the Ethereal is a dimension of raw emotion, dreams, and psychic magic that does effect the Material in an area known as the Spirit Scar. Here the sheer mass of the Ethereal causes psychic interference, nightmares, hauntings, and an increased presence of undead. Radio telescopes pointed at the Scar pick up ghostly whispers, and those who bodily enter it often return either permanently emotionally distraught or subdued, increasing the region's infamous reputation. Wormgates open temporarily near it as well. These disgorge night hags, trap travelers when they unexpectantly close, or release ectoplasm that can damage starships.1
