Nanobot mimics are swarms of nanobots which disguise themselves as technological objects to ambush those that try to pick them up. They are sometimes licenced for use as security, but are most often employed by criminals to trap investigators and dispose of the body.1
Nanobot mimics have a penchant for escaping their masters, especially after taking enough damage, which interferes with their programming. These nanobot mimics still follow their directives, taking the shape of objects they see other creatures using and attacking those that pick them up. A series of bizarre murders on Absalom Station turned out to be an escaped nanobot mimic's doing.1
