Mucilaginous cloud is the common name given to numerous species of predatory flying oozes found on various planets, though they are not identical.1

Appearance

Mucilaginous clouds resemble churning protoplasmic membranes full of acidic gas, sometimes visibly containing a previous prey's undigested remains. A mucilaginous cloud is 15 feet both wide and long and weigh 100 pounds, but can compress or expand itself to manipulate its own density. Its amorphous form allows it to attack with pseudopods. Its outer layer is coated in digestive chemicals, which nauseate prey and make it easier for the mucilaginous cloud to absorb and consume them. Camouflaging vapour often hides a mucilaginous cloud's true form.1

Ecology

It's speculated that the mucilaginous clouds across the universe have a common ancestor, which spread from its homeworld by way of spores released into space during its life cycle.1
