Hesper
Hespers are fey that embody the potential for change inherent in technological power sources.1
Appearance
Hespers resemble green-skinned, lithe and handsome male humanoids. They stand 4 to 5 feet tall and weigh 300 to 400 pounds. Their hair constantly changes colour and their flesh glows softly in the dark. Their presence excites the air around them, creating drifting motes of light.1
Abilities
A hesper can deliver an enormous dose of radiation with a touch, projecting rays of fire, emitting electricity, overloading electronic devices or triggering grotesque but temporary mutations on living creatures.1
Ecology
Invested in change for its sake, hespers are energetic, excitable and curious. Driven to explore the universe, they usually infiltrate repositories of technology, rebuilding devices and asking questions. Hesper lairs are lined with (usually stolen) souvenirs which they occasionally build into totems.1
Hespers are especially at home in starship reactors, bonding with them and serving as their attendants. However, the fickle hespers like to create drama and easily grow bored with regular routes or long stays in port.1
Hespers adopt the customs of the societies they dwell within. They don't typically seek out their kin, and small hesper groups are only seen in large installations and radioactive waste facilities.1
Hespers are flirtatious and often keep mortal lovers who protect or provide for them. A hesper reproduces by growing of an exowomb on a willing lover. The gestation period lasts from 1 to 2 weeks; the newborn hesper is small but mature.1
