Exsiccate
Exsiccates are mummified undead that arise from non-humanoids and seek out living flesh to incorporate into themselves.1
Appearance
An exsiccate is a hideously withered creature with long spindly limbs and nearly nonexistent facial features, bearing little resemblance to its original form.1
Ecology
When a non-humanoid creature dies in a cold place with a thin atmosphere and does not receive proper burial rites, it can attract negative energy that animates it as an exsiccate. Single-minded in regaining part of the community they lost upon death, exsiccates attack living creatures to tear off their flesh, which they proceed to layer across their body as if trying to create a second skin, even though this stolen skin usually dries and flakes away after mere hours.1
