Cerebrexes are space-dwelling oozes which feast upon entire civilisations, temporarily turning intelligent as they do so. 1
Appearance
From afar, a cerebrex looks like a distant constellation connected by glowing tethers. 1
Ecology
Cerebrexes are capable of digesting both the nutritions and the sapience of its prey. After consuming a civilisation, a cerebrex becomes intelligent enough to find the way to the next-closest prey and plan its next attack. As it digests its meal, the cerebrex's intelligence fades; by the time it reaches its intended destination, it only vaguely understands why it got here, but can still sense the intelligence of its prey from thousands of miles away. 1
