Trafodi Paradox
The Trafodi Paradox is a mysterious artifact found on Vesk-2, speculated to be a transportation device that is either malfunctioning or designed for a truly alien and magically gifted species. When used, it creates a singularity that speaks in myriad voices understandable to any listener, offering salvation from the crushing gravity. A creature that accepts is transported elsewhere in the galaxy or among the planes; those with strong emotional attachments often arrive in the same location, while enemies do not. The singularity disappears after 13 minutes; the Trafodi Paradox usually reappears in the hands of the creature that activated it, but might also turn out anywhere in the galaxy, and its direction can be sensed by the creature that last activated it if not blocked by starmetal.1
History
The ijtikris have no written records of the Trafodi Paradox, only an oral legend that it was brought from the skies and sealed in the Trafodi Turret during the Gap. When the Veskarium reasserted their control over Vesk-2, the vesk explored the island of Trafodi despite the ijtikris' pleas, managed to breach the Trafodi Turret and discovered the Trafodi Paradox in one of its upper vaults. Since it was removed from the island, Trafodi has become more hostile. For several generations, the Trafodi Paradox was kept on Vesk-2 until it came to the attention of high-ranking Veskarium leaders.12
The starship transporting the Trafodi Paradox from Vesk-2 to Vesk Prime for study was lost during transit, and no one has seen it or the Trafodi Paradox since.1 According to official reports, this ship fell victim to the Swarm, though rumour has it that the true culprit was a hound of Tindalos.34
Appearance
The Trafodi Paradox is an intricately carved red stone or coral orb, a foot in diameter, but is very light for its size. The carving forms a multilayered lattice within the sphere.1 Through careful study of these carvings, the fourth rune in Eloritu's holy symbol was discovered.5
