The Disciples of Grace is a syndicate of slavers run by reptoids, who hide it under the veil of religion and philanthropy.1

History

The Disciples of Grace was founded on Absalom Station on 33 AG by Jarood, a mysterious human who claimed that a powerful, enigmatic deity contacted him and that those who dedicated themselves to this deity would be granted protection and immortality. Most people saw Jarood as a fool or con artist and his 'prophecies' as nothing more than vague guesses that happened to apply to real events, but he nonetheless managed to gather a following.1

Jarood was soon murdered by the reptoid Zagtar, who was tempted by the horde of fanatics who would unquestionably listen to him. He and his successors have since worn Jarood's identity, giving rise to the misconception that he is still alive. This has caused the Disciples of Grace to become fairly known across the Pact Worlds.1

Goal

The Disciples of Grace's reptoid orchestrators indulge in their ill-gotten gains and power bestowed by their followers. They seek to expand their operations beyond the Pact Worlds, where they could find more resources to harvest with their 'volunteer clergy'.1

Structure

The Disciples of Grace are currently led by the reptoid Bes Ghabal and his children Livvi, Daxabti and Zirzis. They take turns posing as Jarood and constantly invent new schemes and 'prophecies' to keep their scam running.1

Members

New initiates are gladly accepted by the Disciples of Grace, unaware that they are committing their lives to cunning, sadistic leaders. The only way to rise in the ranks of the Disciples of Grace is to work for decades and donate millions of credits to its 'charities', receiving little in return. Only those who have proven their trustworthiness and loyalty are allowed to participate in the last 'ritual' before being promoted to the inner circle, called the Learning, which requires them to study a book that details the true machinations of the Disciples of Grace. The member then makes a choice: enter the inner circle, free themselves from labour and start indulging in sadistic luxuries, or refuse and be labelled a heretic and then put to death. Those who made it this far, having lost all of their societal mores, quickly accept.1

Sites

The Disciples of Grace earn their wealth from a popular, system-spanning chain of secondhand and vintage stores. They funnel money into fake beneficiaries, from which the inner circle can withdraw funds as needed. The Disciples of Grace's headquarters is the opulent cathedralship Grace's Claw, home of the inner circle, which is armed with enough firepower to blast off any pirates who would attempt to plunder it.1

Relationships

On the infosphere, many conspiracy theorists rightfully speculate that the Disciples of Grace are run by reptoids or other impostors, but have yet to find concrete evidence. One such group, called the Seekers, is gathering intelligence and resources in the hope of eventually taking the Disciples of Grace down.1
