Urgathoa, also known as the Pallid Princes, is a pre-Gap deity of undeath, disease, and gluttony widely revered among intelligent undead, particularly on the planet Eox in the Pact Worlds system.1

History

Urgathoa was born a mortal, and began her journey to godhood when after her death, she refused to accept the judgement of Pharasma and tore herself from the River of Souls. She returned from the Great Beyond as the universe's first undead creature, corrupting the natural order. This corruption manifested itself physically, as it is said her first divine footprint on the Material Plane gave birth to disease and the first undead shadows and wraiths.1

Dogma

Urgathoa's faith is utterly amoral and hedonistic and teaches that one should experience every possible sensation and pursue any dreamed-of desire, no matter the consequences to oneself or others. Dull, uninspired existence is anathema to her, and she exhorts her mortal and undead followers to indulge in the vibrancy of depraved physical, psychological, any spiritual gluttony. Any rule or taboo should be broken in the pursuit of new sensations where nothing is off the table. Any form of outside restriction or internal self-control is repugnant to her, unless such limits are themselves part of a greater form of obsession or gluttony. Her philosophy finds its natural conclusion in the state of undeath, where (at least theoretically) any vice or self-indulgence can be pursued forever. Technology that allows the faithful to extend their lives or consciousness (and therefore their gluttonous pursuits) is seen as somewhat suspect by Urgathoan traditionalists, as this method sidesteps the goddess' path of magical undeath. Others claim that it is only a matter of time before the church of the Pallid Princess adopts these non-magical methods into their orthodoxy.1

Church

Her faith is banned, or at least shunned, on most worlds with the exception of undead-ruled Eox. Her faithful can nevertheless be found in most locales, hidden in secret clubs where the desires of the elite are indulged.1

Worshipers

Many of those who are drawn to Urgathoa's faith are insatiable gluttons, necromancers who give unnatural life to the deceased, or those who revel in disease. All seek new sensations and experiences and participate in decadent orgies of sex, food, and drugs.1

Priesthood

People from any vocation can be drawn to the Pallid Princess, although she is particularly popular among mystics and envoys.1

Temples

Urgathoa's churches are built as feasting halls and often located in the vicinity of graveyards or crypts inhabited by her undead followers.1
