Talavet, also known as the Storyteller, was originally a kasathan goddess of community, self-reliance, and tradition who embodied all stories and legends passed down through kasathan history. Her worshipers now include members of all species who seek to honor and strengthen their connection to their history, tradition, and homeworld.1

History

Throughout their early history, kasathan storytellers gathered their clans around the fire to tell the stories and traditions of their people. It is believed that it was from these stories, which fused with the inherent magic of language, that Talavet was born and became the embodiment of all kasathan stories. As belief in Talavet spread beyond the Kasath to other worlds, the goddesses' teachings took on a universality that stated that any species could strengthen their connection to their people through her worship.1

The reality-wide amnesia caused by the Gap was a violent interruption of Talavet's efforts, and is referred to by her faithful as the Time of Silence That period is seen as a form of divine punishment by the goddess, and in the centuries since its end, her church believes it has rebuilt itself to be stronger than before.1

Dogma

Talavet's followers believe that she is the fusion of story, the communal memory that hold kasathans, and by extension, all species together and connect them to their home planets. Talavet holds that tradition is the most important link in that binding chain, and that a species' legends and stories help create an ordered society. She also teaches that all knowledge is meant to be shared and history serves as a guide to the future. When events such as the Gap interrupt tradition and history, or if a community fails to pass on its stories, Talavet acknowledges that her believers have to rely on their own personal traditions, similar to how a young kasathan discovers themselves during the Tempering to becomes an adult.1

Relations

Talavet is on amicable terms with most other gods, as even violent deities can strengthen cultural cohesion. The only exception to this is the god Nyarlathotep, whose followers hoard secrets, spread lies, and twist stories to form their conspiracies.1

Church

Worshipers

The worship of Talavet was unknown in the Pact Worlds system until the arrival of the kasathans on their worldship, the Idari. Kasathans still make up the majority of Talavet's followers, although significant numbers of shirrens and ysoki have joined her flock due to her focus on family and community, while her vesk worshipers agree with her stance on tradition and self-reliance. People from all walks of life worship Talavet, but she has a particular connection to solarians, as their profession comes directly from the ancient kasathan philosophy known as the Cycle. Her worship is most common on the planets of Akiton, Bretheda, and Triaxus, in the Veskarium, and of course on the Idari.1

Temples

There is no common architectural style of Talavet's temples, which built to suit the tastes of the local community of worshipers. As even a simple hearth can serve as a shrine to the goddess, her full churches often contain a fire burning in a hearth that is always maintained. Red lighting is often a feature as well, a reminder to the star of the abandoned kasathan homeworld.1
