Sarenrae, also known as the Dawnflower or the Firescale (in the Veskarium), is the goddess of redemption, healing, and the sun, particularly the sun of the Pact Worlds system, which is nicknamed the Dawnflower's Star.1

Dogma

Sarenrae teaches temperance and patience in all things, and delights in healing and bringing light into darkness. Compassion and peace are her greatest virtues, and if enemies of the faith can be redeemed, they should be. If they are beyond redemption, however, she is willing to strike them down without mercy. She promises that dawn will always come, bringing with it hope, kindness, and victory.1

History

According to her teachings, Sarenrae fought evil beings who sought to plunge the universe into darkness at the beginning of time. Some of those she fought were redeemed by Sarenrae's glory when they repented their past misdeeds, exemplifying her as a kind and loving goddess.1

Relations

Sarenrae is on friendly terms with the goddess Hylax due to their shared love of finding common ground.2

Church

Sarenrae's faithful come from all walks of life, rejoice in the light of the sun, and believe in love, compassion, and redemption. She is commonly worshipped in societies that rely on sunlight for energy and nourishment. Humans make up the plurality of Sarenrae's worshippers (and sometimes claim her as one of their gods), followed by shirrens attracted to her message of redemption and empathy.1

Priesthood

Many of her faithful are envoys, mystics, solarians, or soldiers who vouch for peace but are ready to fight against irredeemable evil. Sarenrae's temples are open to the sky if possible, and always have at least a window or skylight where the faithful can bask in natural sunlight.1

In the Pact Worlds

The headquarters of Sarenrae's faith in the Pact Worlds system is the Radiant Cathedral in Dawnshore, the central bubble-city of the Burning Archipelago located on the sun. The church organises and trains priests who then wander the galaxy doing Sarenrae's work, and many Sarenites are inspired to make a pilgrimage to the Radiant Cathedral. Besides the sun, she is also popular among populations on the planets Aballon and Verces, and on Absalom Station.1 In fact, prior to the Burning Archipelago's discovery, the largest Sarenite church in the Pact Worlds was the Holy Angel of Flame, located in the Ring of Absalom Station.3

Holy texts

The Birth of Truth and Light is Sarenrae's foremost holy book. It continues to be studied today by scholars who scrutinise Sarenrae's life, deeds, and motivations, discuss about the allegories in the book, and examine the historical records they represent. It has been translated to more than a thousand dialects, and is available for free on most infospheres.3

A collection of maxims, poems and popular songs in The Birth of Truth and Light has been collected and edited into a collection known as the Essences of Sarenrae, which encapsulate what is expected of her faithful. Many excerpts from this book are used as prayers, reminding Sarenites of their patron's virtues and guidelines. The most popular mantra, "The Edicts of Illumination", reads:3

Shed light, act true, embody good, give charitably, shun intolerance, know patience, expose lies, and redeem evil.

Numerous church records and historic documents have been collected in a vast database by modern Sarenites, which is accessible wirelessly by everyone and curated by the artificial intelligence named Primary Repository Intelligent Silicon Mainframe, or PRISM.3
