Interstellar travel

From StarfinderWiki

Interstellar travel, that is, travel from one star system to another, is a relatively recent innovation in the Pact Worlds. It is accomplished most easily by the use of spaceships equipped with Drift engines that allow them to travel through a hyperspace dimension known as the Drift.1

History

Before the introduction of Drift technology by the machine-deity known as the Triune in 3 AG, space travel was largely limited to interplanetary travel among the Pact Worlds, either through magical gates, powerful spells, or sub-light starships. Drift engines became relatively inexpensive, allowing countless existing sub-light vessels to access the space between the stars. This started a brief land rush to other star systems, but it quickly ran into obstacles when the settlers encountered that many systems were already inhabited or else were inimical to colonization.1
