Ezorod

From StarfinderWiki

Ezorod is the last surviving prison of the evil elder entity known as the Eshtayiv, located deep within the Pact Worlds sun.1

Geography

The bubble containing Ezorod is made of extreme force, like in the Burning Archipelago but far stronger, and containing a second bubble inside, which only opens to those with the appropriate key. Its interior is made from blackened stone and mostly lightless, with only sparse illumination provided by inhabitants and some light sources. From the outside, Ezorod resembles nothing more than a pinprick of darkness over the brightness of the sun.12

Ezorod is suffused by the essence of the Eshtayiv. Any living creatures that stand in lightless areas within Ezorod risk being cursed with the Eshtayiv's Touch, which saps life and moisture from them until they die and become pyric revenants.2

The heart of Ezorod is a demiplane of warped geometry known as the Illuminant Heart, home to the darkness engine, powered by a solar inverter, that keeps Ezorod dark and the Eshtayiv bound.34

History

In order to imprison the Eshtayiv, an enemy that they could not defeat, agents of the Outer Gods built seven prisons within the sun: Ezorod, Kybyu, Dalorod, Nyartat, Og, Thuugha and Zadorod. Legend has it that the Outer Gods cast the Eshtayiv into the sun, where they were drawn to the darkness of the prisons. Aware that they had been had but unable to pull their gaze from the prisons, the Eshtayiv set out to illuminate and destroy them. Over time, only Ezorod was left.15

During the Gap, most of the lore about Ezorod and the Eshtayiv was forgotten. Only the Cults of the Elder Mythos remember the Eshtayiv and their prison deep in the sun.1

Inhabitants

Ezorod is home to pyric harbingers and the pyric undead, remnants of its former guardians, who once kept light within themselves to stave off the Eshtayiv's Touch but eventually succumbed to the darkness and died. They destroy anyone who dare venture within.1
