Iomedae was a mortal woman from the lost planet of Golarion who ascended to divinity centuries before the start of the Gap. After that world's disappearance, she became the patron goddess of humanity and began to be called the Spirit of Golarion. Iomedae remains a warrior for good who embodies the virtues of glory, honor, justice, strength, and valor, and who strives against the greatest evils facing the Pact Worlds system.

History

The financial and religious support of the church of Iomedae was instrumental in supporting the formation of the Pact Worlds government and the signing of the Absalom Pact.

Dogma

Iomedae is a fiercely martial and compassionate deity who expects her followers to exercise courtesy with one another. A proponent for universal justice, she expects everyone to act honorably and fight bravely in battle, even when the odds are stacked against them. While she prefers evildoers to be disarmed and surrender, she is not opposed to her faithful cutting them down in battle if given no other choice. Iomedae's beliefs are distilled into the Code of the Inheritor, which extols the fair-treatment of prisoners, temperance in action, and honor among her othe virtues.

Relationships

Iomedae sees the goddess Hylax as too reluctant to confront the threat of the Swarm and too tolerant of Zon-Kuthon.

Church

Worshipers

While she is the patron goddess of humanity (who also make up the majority of her faithful), she is worshiped by numerous vesk and kasathas who are drawn to her honorable code in battle. Iomedae tends to attract honorable, hard-working individuals who are willing to offer and accept help when needed. Many of her priests carry a longsword into battle in honor of the Spirit of Golarion. Her faithful can most commonly be found in the Pact Worlds system on Absalom Station, as well as Akiton and Triaxus, but she is also popular in the Veskarium.

Holy text

Iomedae's holy text is known as The Acts of Iomedae.

Temples

As her followers have spread her faith among the stars, they have erected grand temples to honor her name. These structures often mimic the architectural style of ancient Golarion churches, featuring large fountains, lofty arches, and walls resembling whitewashed stone. Despite their traditional appearance, these temples are equipped with modern technological conveniences. Her knightly orders may even utilize them as training grounds, recovery centers, and temporary accommodations.

Organizations

The church of Iomedae sponsors several knightly orders, the best-known of which are the Knights of Golarion. These warriors protect the inhabitants of the Pact Worlds system at home and in more distant star systems onboard their powerful cathedralships. Although they are not required to be devout worshipers of the goddess, they each take the 10-part oath to uphold the Code of the Inheritor.
