Desna, the Song of the Spheres, is a pre-Gap deity of travel, luck, the stars, and dreams. She espouses self-confidence, indulgence, new experiences, and instinctual action. She is a study in contrasts; a traveler unconcerned with her destination, carefree and youthful yet haunted by eons of history. While some believe her to be flighty and distractable, she also has a coldness born of loss and conflict.1

Dogma

Desna communicates with her worshipers through their dreams. In them, she tries to build their self-confidence, encourages them to discover new experiences and trust their instincts. She is a goddess of luck who believes that fortune favors the bold and that anything has a chance of success, while acknowledging that dreams can turn into nightmares. Desna watches over travelers and dreamers and teaches that it is better to ask forgiveness than permission, and that the greatest opportunities come to those willing to make split-second, spontaneous decisions. She does not pick fights and prefers to avoid physical confrontations, but if bypassing them means that innocents would suffer, she does not hold back and prefers to end a battle quickly using non-lethal means.1

Home

Desna is said to make her home in the star Cynosure, said to be equally distant from every solar system that worships her.1

Church

Even though shrines to the Song of Spheres can be found in almost any place visited by space travelers, her church is mostly unorganized and has few permanent temples of size. Most commercial starships do carry small chapels to her, while many private vessels include a small idol or image of Desna or her symbols.1

Worshipers

Desna is worshiped by adventurers, explorers, navigators, and more than a few members of the Starfinder Society. She is also popular with mystics and solarians, and is called upon by thieves and gamblers as the goddess of luck. Many travelers about to go on a lengthy journey also say a quick prayer to her. Some of her devout followers carry a starknife, a weapon long associated with the deity. In the Pact Worlds system, her worship is most popular on Absalom Station, the planets Castrovel and Triaxus, and the spaceship Idari.1
