Sholar Adat

The Sholar Adat is the most-recognized building in Idari's Brispex sector. It stretches from the "ground" nearly all the way to the Hub, and serves an important cultural role, combining the function of a cemetary, library, and temple.

Function

When a kasatha dies on the Idari, the body is processed in the ship's recyclers for useful components. Before this, the corpse is taken to the Sholar Adat, where robed attendants (called adata) harvest a hair-thin slice of the deceased's brain. This slice is preserved and added to the temple's archives. Using technomagical machinery, these samples can briefly evoke the deceased's memory and sometimes allow contact with the departed soul. While querying a soul is costly, accessing a soul from less than a hundred years ago requires a warrant. Many adata spend their time in stasis beds connected to the ship's Sensorium, unraveling ancient memories to advance kasathan society through ancestral wisdom.
